Differences between the files Commodore 128 CP/M system and utility disks Composed by William Levak on January 8, 2003 It is necessary to distinguish between the two separate dates for the 1985 version of the system disk. They are distinctly different versions. The utility disks are apparently the same. 1 Aug 85 If you consider the "6228" at the beginning of the serial numbers the same as "622-", then these group together based on the rest of the serial number (the only part actually in CPM+.SYS). 8 Dec 85 HELP.COM - The $FF in two places in some versions of this file may be transcription errors. They do not occur in earlier or later versions. They do not even occur in serial number sequence. SCREEN40.COM - This is not in the Frankfurt version, but it does occur in later versions. It appears that SCREEN40.COM was added between serial numbers 491487 and 499756. Removing DIR.COM from the system disk to make room for SCREEN40.COM still leaves a copy on the Utility disk. Frankfurt version - This appears to be based on an early 8 Dec 85 version. Not only is SCREEN40.COM missing, but the directory is arranged the same as the 1 Aug 85 version. The directory was rearranged slightly to accomodate SCREEN40.COM and the Frankfurt version does not have this rearrangement. This implies that there are two major variations of the 8 Dec 85 version, with and without SCREEN40.COM. 28 May 87 All files available in previous versions are on the 5.25" disk, but not the 3.5" disk. You need both a 3.5" and 5.25" drive to access all the files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 AUG 85 8 DEC 85 28 MAY 87 1750 Support 1581 Support 1581 Disk 6228129311 622-491487 622-499756# 622-3239212 622-5002336 6228151676 622-580745 622-3282252 622-194971 622-598666# 622-3297432 ADDBIOS.COM 4 C1571.COM 3 3 CCP.COM 1 1 1 1 1 CONF.COM 3 3 CONF.HLP 3 3 COPYSYS.COM 1 1 1 1 1 CPM+.SYS ***1 ***2 ***2 ***3 ***3 DATE.COM 1 1 1 1 DATEC.ASM 1 1 1 1 DATEC.RSX 1 1 1 1 DEVICE.COM 1 1 1 1 DIR.COM 1 1 1 1 DIRLBL.RSX 1 1 1 1 DUMP.COM 1 1 1 1 ED.COM 1 1 1 1 ERASE.COM 1 1 1 1 FORMAT.COM 1 1 1 3 3 GENCOM.COM 1 1 1 1 GENCPM.COM *4 GET.COM 1 1 1 1 HELP.COM 1 1 1# 1 1 HELP.HLP 1 F 2 2 2 HEXCOM.COM 4 HIST.UTL 4 INITDIR.COM 1 1 1 1 KEYFIG.COM 1 1 1 1 1 KEYFIG.HLP 1 1 1 1 1 LIB.COM *4 LINK.COM *4 MAC.COM *4 PATCH.COM 1 1 1 1 PIP.COM 1 1 1 1, *1 *1 PUT.COM 1 1 1 1 READ.ME 3 4 RENAME.COM 1 1 1 1 RMAC.COM *4 SAVE.COM 1 1 1 1 SCREEN40.COM 2 2 2 SET.COM 1 1 1 1 SETDEF.COM 1 1 1 1 SETUP.COM F1.1/F2.1 SHOW.COM 1 1 1 1 SID.COM *4 SUBMIT.COM 1 1 1 1 *1 TRACE.UTL 4 TYPE.COM 1 1 1 1 XREF.COM 4 * Contains a serial number: $6E 1E 02 nn nn nn, where nn nn nn is the serial number on the label in hex.
