(Copied from Q-Link.) Hello, I'd like to thank all those who have commented on the problems with @Icon Grabber as uploaded to Q-Link. I am deeply sorry about the problem with using early versions with geoPaint - the problem was with the version I uploaded (since it occurred in the drive code) and the version I had been using myself had no such problem!!! @Icon Grabber v1.3 had a bug when using REUs - it has been fixed (we hope)! At any rate here is a corrected, and slightly upgraded version (1.5). I've been using it for over a week and a half quite successfully. So what is @Icon Grabber - well it is a DA that allows you to copy file icons between files and photo scraps! And you can move between disks and drives while using the Grabber!! (3-drives if you have an REU). @Icon Grabber 1.5 is the actual desk accessory; @Some Icons is a geoPaint file demostrating the use of @IG with @geoPaint . @IGDocs is a self-running (ie - doesn't need geoWrite or a reader) doc program. Just double-click on @IGDocs . You can flip back and forth thru its pages by using the arrows. If you want a hardcopy of the docs just click on the printer icon (you'll need a selected printer driver on the disk) and you'll get a draft 3-page document. As for the printer problems, they are basically out of my hands - the doc program uses inbuilt GEOS routines to print out in Draft (or NLQ) mode. You MUST have a printer driver on the disk (and not in another drive) with @IGDocs , otherwise it won't work. (You may also need to disable page skip on some printers before entering GEOS). @Icon @Grabber is shareware program. If you like it please send $5 to register your ownership and receive the first issue of " @geoSphere !" free. (Comes with a disk full of GEOS software & if you register - @Icon Grabber v2 ). Send donations & requests to: John P. Young/GEOS 1202 Silverway San Antonio, TX 78251 Thank you! ( @Icon Grabber has no known bugs that haven't been fixed (there was only 1 found) - and we have had no problems at ALL in a week of usage!) - DAR/JPY Icon Grabber 1.5YPRG formatted GEOS file V1.0ᗰ}9Saza;'Icon GrabberV1.5John Paul Young This is a DA for fast icon transfers! -JPYR,R % 8L>© @Th T D {(ePע ©S ~ / @ @!A Z Q . With Icon Grabber you can move file icons around between files and thru photo scraps while you are in your favorite applications. If you don't have an icon editor (or don't like using the ones you have) you can use geoPaint in conjunction with Icon Grabber to edit your icons. There are many more uses for this DA and its very likely you'll come up with some of your own! Upon opening, Icon Grabber will display the first icon on the calling (the one Icon Grabber is on) disk. Above this icon is the name of the calling disk and the drive it is in. You can change disks and drives by clicking on the 'disk' option in the menu located on the far right of Icon Grabber's window. Icon Grabber will keep track of the name of the calling disk and ask you to re-insert it when you are done. In this way you can copy file icons between disks quickly and easily. I000000000 Below the disk name, to the left of the file icon, is the deskTop notepad page the icon i000000000 Below the disk name, to the left of the file icon, is the deskTop notepad page the icon is on (out of the total number of pages). Each page holds up to 8 files (Icon Grabber does @not display basic files that don't have a GEOS fileheader). You can move to a specific page by clicking on the 'next' and 'prev' icons till you find the one you want. Under the page number is the file's name. You may select another file by clicking on the arrows pointing left and right that are located just below the filename. [These icons will loop thru the files and page as if they were continously connected (circular).] K000000000 To the south of the menu is a display of Icon Grabber's b000000000 To the south of the menu is a display of Icon Grabber's buffer. You can copy the current file icon to this buffer by clicking on the downward pointing arrow. If you want to copy the buffer icon to a file icon simply click on the upward pointing arrow. Do note that when you copy the buffer to a file the process is irreversible (you may want to save the current file icon to a photo scrap before copying over it with the buffer). By using the buffer and the 'disk' option you can more effectively use icons to distinguish your GEOS files. (Furthermore, version 2 of Icon Grabber will allow you to keep icons in photo albums!) kN000000000 As previously mentioned, Icon Grabber will let you 000000000 As previously mentioned, Icon Grabber will let you move icons around via photo scraps. You can copy a file icon to a photo scrap (on the current disk, overwriting any previous one) by simply clicking on the 'Clip' icon. The photo scrap created will be 24 pixels (individual dots or picture elements) by 24 pixels, although the file icon will only occupy the first 24 (wide) by 21 (high) pixels (this is because photo scrap dimensions must be divisible by 8 as color on the 64 is handled in 8x8 pixel squares called cards). You can use this photo scrap like any other - in geoPaint, geoWrite, etc. You can also use this scrap with Icon Grabber! P000000000 To copy a photo scrap to a file icon s000000000 To copy a photo scrap to a file icon simply click on 'Import' from the menu. This function will overwrite the current buffer icon with a copy of the photo scrap currently on disk. This scrap must be 24x24 pixels in size (like those created using 'Clip'), though only the first 24x21 pixels will be used. To use geoPaint to create this scrap simply make a 24x21 pixel (this is 23x by 20y pixels when measured using the ruler) icon, align it on a color card boundary (or move it the the top-left of the editing window) and copy it to a photo scrap (using the icon's exact size - geoPaint will make it 24 pixels high). Do this by clicking on the appropriate icon after clicking on 'Clip'. In this way you can preserve an icon you are changing, or copy an icon from another disk to a photo scrap on the current disk (by changing disks, coping the desired icon to the buffer, moving back to the original disk and 'Clip'-ing the buffer). These are just a few of the uses of Icon Grabber. In addition, when your register your possession of Icon Grabber you will receive an even more powerfull version of this Desk Accessory! Icon Grabber will switch to the calling drive (the one it was on when opened) and if the calling disk isn't in the drive it will ask you to insert that disk (in this way it will not crash when exiting to the application you were previously using). P.S. - Click on 'Inform' if you need some help while using Icon Grabber. A number of small windows of text and graphics will go through the highlights of Icon Grabber.
