Loading Up! Set up ALL equipment with data disks in their proper places. The exception to this is that you have your system disk in drive 8. LOAD "ZELCH" ,8 SEARCHING FOR ZELCH LOADING READY RUN Press return from here and answer the time and date questions.The time is NOT in military time and single or double digits are acceptable. If you have a printer (device 4) and would like a logon and logoff recorded, answer "y" to this question, otherwise, press return or "n". After the program is loaded, switch your SYSTEM disk for your MAIN data disk and press return. Make sure you have your modem in ANSWER and DATA. This is the "waiting for call" screen. This is displayed untill a person calls and is on-line. Notice the last caller and the logoff time are recorded as well as the # of calls since you last turned on the computer.This number is reset in MONSTER MODE (mentioned in part 1). Press F1. 1) Return to BBS - this returns to the waiting for call screen. 2) Monster Mode - this resets the number of calls for that day, the day, month (if needed) , resets the calls today and validates the MAIN data disk. 3) Zelch or Zap - term. This is a simple terminal without any form of extras. Once in Term mode, F3 toggles ascii/commodore, and F2 exits to BBS mode. 4) Read feedback - views feedback file 5) Read Log - reads Log! file Hit 1Hit F3!! Go thru the logon process untill the opening msg is displayed. The space bar aborts a msg and the home key pauses (any other resumes). Enter your ID#: (probably 1) Enter your password: (All upper and lowercases exactly the way you wrote it before.) You have 5 tries to logon before the BBS throws you off. If you have no ID #, then type "new" and go thru the newuser process. Loading info Welcome BACK! Notice the window at the top of the screen. This is there to inform you of some basic information about the user on-line. It will be displayed always and will not scroll off the screen untill logoff is accomplished. Mail? No? Yes? COMMAND!!! Now What? SysOp commands: F1- enters chat from any prompt. F7 exits. Be sure to note where you came from as you will reenter exactly where you left off. Chat mode is signified by reverse typing and will not announce itself. F2- auto-throw off. This will set the auto logoff flag. This flag is set only when a person drops carrier, runs out of time, or is F2'd. F3- from some one-letter prompts. This allows you to make a simple access change. Remember to set it back to its original value before the person logs off or it will be saved in the persons user record. Answering YES to the BURST time question adds 2 hours to the current time to create a new logoff time for the current user. This new time is not updated on your window. NOW! F)eedback - this allows users to write you a private note. O)ff- Logoff request I)nfo- view info file C)hat- page the SysOp for a chat. At this point the screen should turn white to show that the SysOp has been paged. U)serlist- view the current list of users skipping all "EMPTY" files. S)tatus- the current status of the person on-line. B)aud change- allows a user to change from 200-500 baud. The Major Sections! E)mail This mini-section is for the reading and sending of electronic mail. Sending mail requires the ID# of the user. The filename of mail is "mail "+id#. Each consecutive piece of mail for one user is tagged to the end of the first. Q)SysOp List users edit user (very limited editor) reset vote box edit vote- edits vote file title ex: Cars! option ex: do you like cars result ex: liked cars -:*disk channel*:- All disk dos commands PLUS (8-11)(RETURN) change device (at sign):filename- seq file reader $:option- directory %:option- count files (at sign)- disk status e:filename- seq file editor. This should only be used on files with less then 50 lines of text. w:filename- seq file writer M)sg Base Complete msg base with post / reply / scan / new msgs / msg editors / and individual Sigs. Post- Write a msg. If you have configured a sig for 20 msgs, when someone tries to post the 21st, it will be written over the first. Reply- Adding to a posted msg. Do do this, you must have post access. Scan- limited info on posted msgs New msgs- scan and read newly posted msgs or msgs with new replys Delete msg- completely delete a msg Response delete- deletes responses of a msg only. Sigs- up to 50! A)ll new- read new msgs in all sigs T)ransfer Upload/Download.. up to 50 UD sections! Filename is guarded against error causing characters. Pound signs are only allowed in filename if you have access 7 or higher. Download descriptions are also available and are (up arrow) filename in your directory. V)ote This section is for anonymous voting. The voting section keeps track of those who voted and will not allow anyone to vote twice. Resetting the vote box also resets this feature. L)ibrary Seq file reader.. and little more. "txt 0" is the menu and "txt X" is the filename of all text files. The Message Maker The built in msg maker is full of helpful commands which are explained as well in the default "msg mkr help" file as I could ever do here.Remember, the "*" must precede all commands. 50 lines of 160 chars each is the limit of the msg maker! Q)Sysop Section This section alows you to do various chores of the sysop including edit user, list users, reset and edit vote, and the disk channel. In the edit user function, you can edit most main characteristics including most variables (up to 10 can be used). They are now used as follows: 0 - LSB of highest msg # read 1 - MSB of highest msg # read 2 - Default Baud Rate (below) 3 - uploads 4 - downloads Personal Variables High msg- this alows the user to lower or raise their highest msg # read pointer back so that they can read new msgs from a few days ago. Buad- (for 300 bauders only) This is the baud rate that the computer will prompt you when a user logs on. Changing this pointer does not effect the current baud rate.
