The CBM 256-80 represents the top of the CBM-II line of computers. It sports a stylish high-profile case with built in monitor, similar to that of the 8032sk, all of the capabilities of the more common B128, plus the additional ram (available through memory banking) needed for business computing. In addition, this particular unit contains the 8088 daughterboard, meant for running MS-DOS applications, which were just becoming popular in business computing at that time.
Personal Note:I was astonished to finally get
my hands on this beauty from an eBay
auction. The seller told me that it was non-functional. He was
wrong. Moreoever, this particular unit contains the EXTREMELY
rare 8088 daughterboard (pictured above). My next mission is coming
up with a keyboard, so that I may investigate this machine further.
